Experience Loaghtan Wool from Fleece to Fabric

The much-loved Manx Loaghtan Experience will be on display at the Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival this year. The Manx Loaghtan Experience stand will offer visitors the opportunity to meet loaghtan sheep, watch loaghtan fleece being cleaned and carded, enjoy spinning demonstrations, and see Laxey Woollen Mills’ 1926 Hattersley Pedal Loom in action, weaving loaghtan wool into cloth.

Isle of Man producers have seen a record number of culinary creations win at the world’s most coveted food and drink awards, which are based entirely on taste.  The Great Taste Awards use a network of chefs, writers and critics to blind-taste more than 14,000 products, from 110 countries, before the crème de le crème are awarded a star rating.

Revellers will be able to sample the finest creations from more than 70 local producers ranging from fizz and artisan breads to sizzling sausages and thirst quenching ice lollies.

Food & Drink businesses complete marketing masterclass

Nine Isle of Man food and drink producers have successfully completed a series of marketing masterclasses, designed to boost their brand and find new audiences for their products. The weekly Fast Track Your Food & Drink workshops were delivered by food business specialist Fiona Fitzpatrick and social media whizz Kirsty Lawrence in Castletown last month.
