Meet the Producers -
Fynoderee

For any newcomers, who are you and what do you do?

We are a Craft Distillery based in Ramsey making a range of premium Manx spirits including Fynoderee Gins, Manx Bumbee Vodka, Glashtyn Manx Rums and Isle of Man Single Malt Whiskey. Our premises are open to the public for tours and we have the Fyn Bar and Shop where we welcome visitors for cocktails, perfect serves and a browse of the shop shelves.

When did you establish your business?

We launched in November 2017, with a tiny set-up in a garage at the back of our house in Ramsey.

What inspired you to begin?

A love of craft spirits and a fascination with how they are made. We were also keen to create a premium export product for the Isle of Man that would be a vehicle for showcasing Manx folklore and other aspects of Manx culture.

How has your business grown since then?

We now employ 8 full time staff and a host of seasonal and hospitality team members, and we also now occupy large warehouse premises in Ramsey next to the MER Terminal.

Where are you based and what does that community mean to you?

The distillery is based in the heart of Ramsey and we love being part of the community. Most of our staff live in the north of the Island and we enjoy attracting visitors to the town, many of whom visit us via the Manx Electric Railway. We also sustainably forage for most of our hand-picked ingredients in the north, as well as collaborate with other local producers who supply us with botanicals such as elderberries, apples, strawberries and honey.

What does the Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival mean to you?

We are proud to be able to showcase our spirits at the Island’s Food & Drink Festival. The festival brings together the diverse and high quality producers the Island has to offer and it’s an incredible opportunity for us to demonstrate the range and quality of our different spirits, engage with the public, generate interest and gain feedback. Many attendees will purchase from us local producers on the day, so it’s a fantastic and much needed sales opportunity, and we always offer some great ‘Show Deals’. We also love meeting the other producers and several collaborations have come about from previous festivals.

Which other local producer(s) are you most looking forward to seeing this year?

Every single one – we all play an intrinsic role in creating a sustainable, local food and drink scene, something that’s important not only for food security but also for creating a culinary scene that is of great interest to the Island’s visitors, who in this day have high expectations.

What’s on the horizon for your business?

We are very excited about taking our Manx made Rum to the Tower of Refuge to barrel age within the stone walls for a period of time. This rum is part of our fundraising partnership with the RNLI and the unique maritime atmosphere of the Tower with all its salinity, and positively charged ions, will create an exciting product with unique backstory and provenance that we expect to be in high demand.

What is your signature dish/product?

Our spirits range has expanded to over 11 different spirits across the Gins, Rums and Vodka that we make - each one is unique and has its own following.
